Last week at least two candidates for president of Russia drew their attention at the Nizhny Novgorod Region. One of them scared regional Governor with courts, the other promised to raise wages to employees of defense enterprises. Nizhniy Novgorod Oil and Fat Plant obliged to put treatment filters so that city residents could breathe freely, and «LUKoil - Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez» got pinched at the breach of competition law. Last week was relatively calm in the political life of the Region, despite the forthcoming elections. Igor Shubin handed out his mandate in the Legislative Assembly to Viktor Fedorov. «LUKoil-PNOS» paid «counted by the anti-monopoly agency fee», President of «NK «LUKoil» Ltd. Vagit Alekperov came with a traditional visit to the Region. Oleg Chirkunov suddenly became aware of the housing construction problem. Just another week in the Urals was marked by noted personnel reshuffle. United Russia members of the Sverdlovsk region excluded Head of Nizhny Tagil from their ranks, Head of Zlatoust retired in the southern Urals, and personnel reshuffle ended in two municipalities of the Ugra.

Week in the Urals has stood out quite saturated. Deputy of Yuri Chaika flew with a visit in the Sverdlovsk Region, the plane fell in the Chelyabinsk Region, criminal case commenced against the head of «Tyumenenergo», and Kurgan fishermen defended the right to fish on their favorite lakes.

Last week was remembered by several important appointments. Finally the legislative branch of the Perm Region gained its representative in the Federation Council, first vice-chairman of Regional Parliament was elected and, of course, Head of the Kama Cabinet of Ministers approved. It looks like Governor is more and more removed from political control of the region, but under the «Open Government» he has already started to form the federal agenda. Meanwhile, the city administration officials has once again surprised by their heartless approach to the implementation of social policy, deciding this time to save money on sick children. Last week, Head of the Nizhny Novgorod Region held negotiations with China Ambassador on strategic points of economic cooperation, including the field of automobile industry; regional authorities reported the unprecedented after crisis growth of the input housing, and a new Board of Directors of Sarov Technopark was lined with VIP-figures of the Federal level. The last week in the Ural Federal District was saturated.
